Job Description

The Digital Communications Specialist supports the digital communication functions of The College of Liberal Arts and Sciences at ASU. These responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the development and deployment of social media strategies and the curation of content, writing and designing email messages and planning and tracking email campaigns, and developing and maintaining web content and design for The College. The position entails cultivating content to maintain and enhance the strategic online presence of The College, monitoring and reporting social media, email and website analytics, contributing to university-wide digital communication efforts, and assisting with miscellaneous needs related to marketing and communications at The College, all while balancing and prioritizing numerous deadlines and projects.

 

The Digital Communications Specialist researches and finds creative solutions and opportunities for new digital campaigns, building on a strong foundation of audience research and data to drive decisions. This role will work closely and collaborate with a team of creative professionals, including a writer, graphic designer and videographer.

 

Salary Range

$47,000 - $57,000 per year; DOE

Essential Duties

·       Researches and develops digital marketing strategies and standards to reach and engage online customer/member audiences.

·       Helps develop, execute and audit social media strategies, including curating content, maintaining an annual content calendar and attending events to conduct real-time social media. 

·       Contributes to the development and execution of social media paid advertising.

·       Builds individual email campaigns, including editing HTML, uploading images and graphics and designing campaign templates as needed.

·       Creates and prepares email lists and manipulates files for segmented campaigns.

·       Analyzes social media, email and web analytics, and helps generate performance reports and develop plans for improvement.

·       Engages with marketing and communications representatives across ASU academic and business units to source and promote content.

·       Maintains and adheres to the ASU and The College brand voice and tone. Edits The College and unit digital content to follow the ASU brand guide.

·       Assists in writing creative, high-quality communications for The College audiences (e.g., faculty, staff, students, donors, prospective students, and the general public).

 

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in a field appropriate to the area of assignment and two (2) years of related experience: OR, or any equivalent combination of education and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved. Demonstrated experience in writing and editing online content.

 

Desired Qualifications

·       Evidence of effective in verbal and written communication skills

·       Knowledge of AP Style.

·       Experience in developing effective social media campaigns.

·       Experience in using social media platforms including, but not limited to, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and LinkedIn.

·       Demonstrated knowledge of email marketing platforms, preferably Salesforce Marketing Cloud. 

·       Demonstrated knowledge of web content management and analytics platforms, preferably Google Analytics and Drupal.

·       Experience working in a higher education and/or executive environment.

·       Experience with multimedia practices and equipment, including photography and videography.

·       Skill in critical thinking, goal setting and attention to detail.

·       Skill in problem-solving and decision-making.

·       Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships.

·       Ability to work effectively in an environment subject to stringent deadlines.

  

Working Environment

Activities are performed in an environmentally controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting, keyboarding, and manipulating a computer mouse; required to stand for varying lengths of time and walk moderate distances to perform work. Frequent bending, reaching, lifting, pushing and pulling up to 25 pounds. Regular activities require ability to quickly change priorities which may include and/or are subject to resolution of conflicts. Ability to clearly communicate to perform essential functions.

 

This position offers a hybrid work arrangement option, where the employee spends a minimum of 60% of the regular workweek at the primary ASU work location. Hybrid schedules are considered after a 90-day, fully in-person work period.
